Last week when started thinking about writing a blog, I had many ideas flowing through my brain. Now, I can't think of anything to write! Lol, not quite true, but I don't know how interesting it is. This week has been a typical week for me. Doing laundry, caring for my chickens, cleaning the bathrooms, changing the sheets, baking casseroles, and of course watching all the TV shows that have returned to TV this week. Before I get into TV shows, I want to share an anecdote about my chickens (I moved this story to the post called "Chicken Story" for ease of categorization)... Back to the TV shows I watch. We don't have cable, but watch TV shows online (cable is not worth paying for). My favorites are Castle, Psych, Warehouse 13, and Eureka. I also enjoy Bones, NCIS, NCIS: LA, and sometimes Glee.
Last June I didn't have anything to watch and someone suggested Glee, I was able to catch up on the whole 1st season, but I don't know if I will stick with it this season. I don't enjoy about 50% of the songs they sing, and in the first episode this week, Rachel was really annoying me.
If you haven't seen Castle, give it a try! The season opener was excellent! (Spoiler alert, kinda) The relationship between Castle and Becket couldn't move forward (unfortunately, it would be fun if it did, but doesn't make sense for it to from a Hollywood perspective) and the writers reset the relationship in a unique and not annoying way, which isn't always easy.
Psych has been good this season so far. My favorite episode this season was episode 3 "Not Even Close...Encounters." A great episode about a friend of Shawn and Gus who is a closet sci-fi fan.
Warehouse 13 has been interesting this season. I really like the character of H.G. Wells. The whole question of whether she is good or bad is gripping. We still don't know the answer yet.
Eureka has been annoying this season. (Spoiler alert if you haven't been watching it all season) Throwing the main characters back in time and messing up the future has been really annoying. I didn't like the new character Dr. Grant. He was messing up the relationship between Carter and Allison after already messing up the future by disappearing from the past, yada-yada. Finally Carter and Allison are getting back together, but something has to happen to mess it up (but I hope it doesn't!). And Beverly is back (yuck!). Zane is rotten again...need I go on? At least Kevin gets to not have autism now. I'm sure the actor appreciates that.
New shows I've tried so far are: Better With You, Mike & Molly, The Whole Truth, and Chase.
Chase was your standard action crime show, but enjoyable, I will be giving it a few more episodes before I decide.
The Whole Truth was an interesting take on a lawyer/court room show. I usually don't enjoy shows about lawyers and court rooms, but this one kept my interest. I like how the writers show the perspective of the defense and prosecution, so you get to follow both sides, getting more information than the jury, but still are unsure at the end if the accused did it or not (although they did have a final scene that lets you know justice was served). I like how neither the defense or the prosecution are the main character, but both are, so either one can win/lose without you feeling like your "friends" lost. I have great hope for this show. I hope it lives up to my expectations from the first episode.
Mike & Molly was cute. I can go either way about it right now. The characters are a little awkward, but it was just the first episode and I think the characters are supposed to be awkward in general. Sometimes that bugs me, so we'll see how it goes.
I absolutely LOVED Better With You. I was not expecting to enjoy it, but it was hilarious! I love how the writers have juxtaposed the three couples at different points in their relationships. I see parts of mine, my relatives, and my friends relationships in each couple and it's great!
I think that's enough for now. There are a few other new shows I hope to try and I still have Bones to catch up on, but that's it for now.
Smile often, keep a song in your heart, and be happy with who you are.
